Photography
I like taking pictures and messing with them in photoshop a bit. This page is for the favorites I feel like sharing.. :)
The camera I use at the moment is a Canon Powershot A620, which I bought on eBay for about $200 – the package included a 1GB SD card and a leather case. I also use a $15 compact tripod from Walmart that stands about 4 ft. off the ground when fully extended. It’s great for traveling, because it folds down to less than a foot! Although it is only 2-pan, I’ve been quite happy with it.
composite multiple-exposure “clone” pictures
These are some composite pictures that I made in photoshop using several exposures of the same scene (the camera was on a tripod to ensure that the same approximate visual frame was being exposed). I’ve done a few before when I was in high school with a 3MP camera, however they never turned out as well since it was a point-and-shoot that didn’t allow for much manual control of exposure time / white balance / aperture / etc..
I prefer black and white pictures, so these have been converted to grayscale. The contrast has been heavily tweaked with curves and levels, and I used a diffuse filter to smooth some of the picture’s roughness. I use them as a desktop background (1440×900) for my laptop, so detail isn’t necessarily a concern, and smoothing it over a bit seems to make the picture a bit nicer to look at.
